Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus. The playwright specifically notes for women to portray the men in John Wesley Powell’s expedition through the Colorado River. This was set in an extreme thrust space in a modular theatre, with the audience on multiple levels and sections, belonging to different boats. I wanted everyone to feel thrust into the silly adventure of make-believe while examining men’s behavior through women telling the story.
